"I’m very excited to announce the first installment of my residency with @asylumseattle happening at the end of this month!!! inspired by the underground dance clubs of the 70s (The Loft, The Black Rabbit, Paradise Garage), we’re turning the venue into a true gay underground Disco.
disco was our first sanctuary, the dance floor our battlefield. on this night, we honour the lineage of queer liberation—the speakeasies, the underground ballrooms, the secret signals and whispered names that carried us forward.
this is studio 54 meets stonewall spirit—an unapologetic celebration of who we’ve always been: extravagant, electric, free. expect a night of high glamour and high sweat, with the ghosts of queer icons watching over us as we take up space the way they dreamed we would."
“Friend of Dorothy” (or FOD) was a commonly used euphemism dating back to the 1940s as a discreet and safe way for Queer people to identify each other. We wanted to revive the phrase as a way of remembering our elders and those that have come before us.
The Soundtrack for the night is Deep house, disco, and anthems that have carried our stories across decades. expect deep grooves and high-energy waves that make you move, sweat, and claim your space.
dress code – queer glam, disco rebellion. dress in your finest, most extravagant queer couture: rhinestones, metallics, oversized collars. go for vintage studio 54 extravagance or take it to the streets with modern punk rebellion—feathers, leather, sequins, and glitter.
